Running Campaigns

This tutorial describes how to create a simple campaign that reloads the parameters on all devices in the network.

Campaigns enable you to execute a device operation, or series of device operations, across a group of devices.

For this tutorial, use the “Walled Garden” device group to all devices in the network and set the campaign to run during a window at a future time.

This tutorial is intended for TR-069 devices, but is generic enough that it can be applied, with some changes, to SNMP and MQTT devices.

Run a Campaign

Schedule a campaign to reload parameters on all devices in a device group at a specified future time.

  1. From the ACS Hub, go to Campaigns.

  2. In the action bar, click Create.
    The New Campaign screen appears.
  3. Type a name for the campaign. Optionally, type a description.

  4. Click Select Tasks.

    The Associated Tasks screen appears.
  5. In the action bar, click Add.
    The Available Operations screen appears.
  6. Select Reload Parameters, and in the action bar, click Confirm.

    The Add Reload Parameters Task screen appears.
  7. Leave all settings at default, and in the action bar, click OK.
  8. In the action bar, click Confirm to save the task.
  9. Click Select Devices.

    The Select screen appears.
  10. Click the down-arrow next to By Devices and select Device Groups.

  11. From the device list, select “Walled Garden”, and in the action bar, click Confirm.
  12. From the Campaign type dropdown, choose Window.

  13. Use the widgets to select a date, a start time, and an end time.

    Note: To allow sufficient time for the campaign to run, set the start and end time appropriately.
  14. Set Notify Device.

  15. In the action bar, click Save.
    A screen with the campaign details appears. The status of the campaign reads “Scheduled”. The campaign will run during the future window.
    Note: To stop a campaign from running before it starts, go to the Campaigns page, select the campaign, and in the action bar, click Archive.

Cancel a Scheduled Campaign

Stop a scheduled campaign from running before it starts.

  1. From the ACS Hub, go to Campaigns.

  2. Select a campaign that is scheduled to run in the future.
  3. In the action bar, click Archive.
  4. At the confirmation prompt, click OK to permanently cancel the campaign.
