Working With Reports

This tutorial includes several tasks that you can use to create and schedule reports.

Creating JasperReports Report Templates

You can create a JasperReports® report template using any compatible tool, such as TIBCO Jaspersoft iReport® or TIBCO Jaspersoft Studio®. These procedures use TIBCO Jaspersoft Studio, which you can download from community.jaspersoft.com.

Before you begin, download and install the JDBC driver from your database vendor (Oracle, MySQL, or Postgres).

Create a JasperReports Report Template

  1. Open TIBCO Jaspersoft Studio.
  2. In the Data Adapter Wizard, create a new Database JDBC Connection.
  3. Click the Database Location tab, and enter the database connection details.
    • JDBC Driver. Select the JDBC driver you installed from the dropdown list.
    • JDBC URL. Type the path to your database. The format is: jdbc:db_type://hostname/database_name.
    • Username. Type a user name with read access to the database.
    • Password. Type the password.
  4. Click the Driver Classpath tab and browse to the location of the JDBC driver.
  5. Click Test to test the connection to your database.
  6. Click Finish to exit the wizard.
  7. Go to File > New > Jasper Report. Use the prompts to select the template, the data source, and the fields for the report.
  8. Export the completed report to a '.xml' document format.
    From the ACS Hub, go to Reports to import the report template into ACS.

Schedule Repeated Reports

Schedule a report to run repeatedly.

  1. From the ACS Hub, go to Reports.

  2. Select a report type, and in the action bar, click Execute.

    The Report Configuration box appears.

  3. Under Parameters, select a start time and end time.
  4. Under Schedule, set Execute now, or select a date and time.
  5. Set Repeats.

    Options for setting the repeat schedule appear.

  6. Set the details of the repeat schedule.
  7. Click OK to save the schedule.

The report is scheduled to run at repeated intervals. This schedule appears in the Report Schedules section.

Pause Report Schedules

Pause a previously scheduled report.

  1. From the ACS Hub, go to Reports.

  2. Select a report type, and in the action bar, click View Schedule.
  3. Select a report with an active schedule, and in the action bar, click Pause.

The report schedule is now paused. To resume running the report, click Resume in the action bar.

Delete Report Schedules

Delete a specified report schedule.

  1. From the ACS Hub, go to Reports.

  2. Select a report type, and in the action bar, click View Schedule.
  3. Select a report schedule, and in the action bar, click Delete.
  4. Click OK to confirm.
The report schedule is now deleted.
