Administering Devices

The ACS Device Hub provides various useful diagnostic and administrative operations that can be performed on single devices.

For example, Customer Service Representatives can use the Device Hub to perform an IP-layer ping test to check a device’s connectivity, and after confirming that a device is online, can reload the parameters on the device or even reset the device to its original firmware state.

Reboot a Device

Reboot a device immediately. You can also choose to reboot the device on the next device contact or during a specified maintenance window.

  1. From the ACS Hub, go to Devices.

  2. In table view, type the serial number of a target device in the Serial heading field and press Enter.

ACS filters all devices except that with the specified serial number. If no devices match, make sure that you entered the correct serial number and try again.

  3. Select the target device, and in the action bar, click View.
    The Device Hub screen appears.
  4. From the Device Hub, go to Perform Actions.

  5. Under Device Actions, click Reboot.

The Reboot actions appear in the right pane.

Note: You may not need to perform this step, as Reboot is normally selected by default.
  6. Leave the Schedule type dropdown at default (Immediate).

Note: You can also choose to reboot the device on the next device contact or during a specified maintenance window.
  7. Click Submit to reboot the device immediately.

Reload and Resynchronize Device Parameters

During a maintenance window, read parameter values from a device and save them to the database, then force the device to re-provision its parameter values. You can also choose to perform the reload operation immediately or on the next device contact.

  5. Under Device Actions, click Reload.

The Reload actions appear in the right pane.

  6. From the Schedule type dropdown, choose Window.

Note: You can also choose to perform the reload operation immediately or on the next device contact.
  7. Use the widgets to select a date, a start time, and an end time.

Note: To allow sufficient time for the campaign to run, set the start and end time appropriately.
  8. Set Notify Device.

  9. Click Submit to reload the device’s parameters and resynchronize the device.
