User Management Service

You can create and manage user accounts with User Management Service (UMS).

When ACS is integrated with User Management Service, you can create and manage additional user accounts. You can specify integration settings for User Management Service in the Network Integration node.

Note: User Management Service is used by other Incognito services. Not all User Management Service functionality is available for all services. Entity users are not supported in ACS.

Logging In

The web interface supports connections using the HTTP and HTTPS protocols. Use the URL, user name, and password provided to you by your system administrator.

To view the latest help files, clear the browser cache before you log in.

Users

The administrator account has full access to all aspects of the service. It cannot be restricted by any other security settings.

The following criteria dictates what objects can be managed:
  • User Type
  • Roles granted for a component service types for specific regions and the actions enabled in that profile
  • If the user is associated to an entity
To do this: Follow these steps:
Search user accounts Specify search criteria and click Search
View user account details Click on a user account
Create a new user account Click Create
Delete a user Select a check box and click Delete
Tip: You can enter full or partial search criteria. Specifying no search criteria returns all records. You may use one or more wildcards (*) in your search string.

User details include information about the account such as when it was last modified, the external ID, and email address. Use these settings to view and manage user account details.

To do this: Follow these steps:
Enable or disable login Click Allow or Disable

Delete the user Click Delete

Group Membership Use these settings to display groups from which the user inherits permissions and add the user to additional user groups. You can also add users to user groups from the User Groups node.
ACLs Use these settings to manage access control lists for the user. This tab is only visible if the user is associated to an ACL.
Roles and Permissions Use these settings to displays roles and permissions assigned to the user.

Roles allow you to customize the permissions granted to a user. For example, you can provide a higher level of access to a user for a specific region. Users who are assigned the ‘No Access’ role cannot perform any of the actions normally available to the user type. Users are assigned roles either directly or through a user group.

For further information about account types, how to grant user permissions, and user account groupings, refer to the security section in the User Management Service user’s guide.

Creating User Accounts
